For our initial assignment, we were prompted to build a website that captured, documented, and transformed or reflected upon a path from point A to point B.
Historically, stars were used for navigation and travel. I have always been attracted to the geometric forms that are created by connecting stars as points and became curious in how I could reinterpret the distance between stars as an interactive constellation experience. This seemed like a very ambitious idea. Still, I was intrigued by the relationships each star has to one another and even more perplexed that the apparent proximity of each star to another was dependent on perspective. I used this curiosity as my basis for the concept development of my initial assignment. Through many different variations and discussions on plausibility concerning time and technical skill, I developed a concept that I would be able to execute with the help of our Teaching Assistant, Tim Ripper. My solution for this interactive website is designed to allow a user to create and investigate different patterns and compositions by connecting stars together. Each page provides a new galaxy of stars waiting to be configured into a constellation meaningful to the user.
