Since I've moved to New York City less than a year ago, I've done some exploring of the different neighborhoods, restaurants, and shops around this unique place I now call home. Here are some of my favorite spots to eat, drink and visit (ok, mostly eat and drink).
my go-to shop for fitness apparel. pretty color combinations, soft and breathable materials, clean modern branding. what's not to love? workout outfits that actually make you want to go work out #doingthings
Yoga for anyone who "just needs to chill out and do some backbends from being on a computer all day."* Also on the menu are wellness workshops, Sound Baths (what are those?) and exotic yoga retreats.

“When little piggies don’t make it home, they come to Black Tree.” Cozy little restaurant on Orchard with a really diverse farm-to-table style menu, creative preparations and unique cocktails.
An old factory in Williamsburg redeveloped into a trendy hotel and rooftop bar with a great view of Manhattan. #hellofromtheotherside
Adorable little shop packed to the brim with a great selection of succulents and unusual cacti, small plants and flowers, dream catchers and crystals and other unique gifts.
Get educated on how to taste wine properly, learn about food pairings and shop the amazing selection of great wines. Perfect place to take a date or meet friends on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. bonus: take a class for half the price on living social
With experimental flavors like Lavender & Pine Stracciatella and Toasted Baguette & Goat Cheese Fig Jam, this unconventional ice cream shop never disappoints.
Beautiful new location, modern Renzo Piano building, contemporary American art.
Part clam shack. Part tiki bar. How can you turn down tropical cocktails with beach-sand on the floor and island music? Kind of cheesy, but kind of amazing.
If you have a sweet tooth like me, mark this location down! Vintage candies and confections in a one-stop-shop. (fun fact: there's a scene in Broad City shot here when Abbi chips her tooth on that huge jawbreaker.)
If you have a wedding or any major event coming up, do yourself a favor and book a Blow Out with Juan. I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks. Your hair can thank me later. #shamelessselfie
A modern manicure studio in SoHo offering classic manicures and a curated selection of nail art.
Hidden gem on the border of LES and Chinatown. Think: nachos, fresh watermelon margaritas and eclectic hipster decor. Easily one of my neighborhood favorites.
I'm adding this one particularly because I enjoy the branding. And, because where else can you go for luxe accommodations like treadmill-side icy eucalyptus soaked towels, complimentary laundry service and locker rooms fully-stocked with Kiehl's products?
This is the go-to place in nyc for blondes. Not only are they color geniuses, they cut and stylist to perfection. If you're looking to treat yourself to your best hair ever — this is where you should go. (book with Maggie for color and Hansen for cuts!)
Specialty shop full of local beers on tap, a fine selection of cheese and other delicious provisions, like fresh bread daily from Sullivan Street Bakery.
Great drinks, casual vibe and candle-lit ambience with stunning tile mosaic flooring segmented by rustic hardwood.
